1st Place Winner at Gassed On Track 2024!

This was another DSG development using a later generation Mk7 Golf equivalent engine from an Audi S3. The shell was heavily restored with a new floor, front end, doors, bonnet, rear quarters and back panel. The bonnet was double skin carbon fibre. Additional custom activities saw a BMW Mini panoramic roof fitted, carbon fibre air scoops in the rear quarters and a rear diffuser. The bumper seams have been removed too. The boot lid has a union jack graphic. The shell is painted in Merlin Purple, another VAG colour with a gloss black roof.

DSG and engine mapping are ongoing, but the engine upgrades, including an L560 turbo should be good for well in excess of 500 BHP with a weight of circa 850 kilos. Syvecs S7 is the engine management of choice, with a CAN Keyboard replacing the usual gear selector setup. A steering wheel mounted control panel has variable boost and traction control as well as cruise control.

A diesel gearbox and LSD were also fitted to counter the shortening of the gearing with the Minis 13” wheels. Interestingly this broadly matches the engine speeds in each gear as the S3 the engine was originally fitted to, where 75 mph equates to an engine speed of 3000 rpm.  A number of personalised options have been chosen with carbon fibre seats and a number of exterior carbon fibre accessories including the Mk1 grille, door mirrors, light surrounds. LED headlights are also fitted.
