Modular Chassis / Rollcage
Engineering SeriesOur rollcage was re-designed in collaboration with Safety Devices who has been building rollcages for over 50 years. The tubular size was increased to 50mm and has a contoured roof bar and rollhoop to fit more closely to the inside of the Mini shell itself. There are a further 6 subtle bends in both bars which ensure they follow the contours of the shell much more closely. The over-shoulder bars are also pushed further into the A-pillar and the roof area allowing more space for ingress and egress.
The roll cage comes in 3 styles; Street, Performance and Track. The most easily identifiable differences are; the doors bars, the absence or not of angled rear diagonal bars and brace bars between the A-pillar bar and the ‘horn’ bars that pass through the front bulkhead and tie-in into the top of the subframe. The modular engine cradle is a 2-piece arrangement and is attached to the roll hoop, 4 anti-sheer fixings for the upper section, and the lower section by 2 lap-joints to the upper section and 4 bolts to the lower box section attached the bottom of the roll hoop.
This allows the self-contained engine cradle to have the engine / gearbox assembled as one on a workbench and lifted into position from under the car. Alternatively the lower cradle can be attached after the engine has been attached into the upper section whilst in the car. The engine cradle also incorporates the rear trailing arms, solid rear disks and coil over suspension.
